The village is located in the east of Cikarang, the largest industrial town in ASEAN. But, I can say the life there is not easy.

‘Gerakan 1000 Buku’ (1000 Books For Labansari) was the name of our program. An event planned and executed by my Public Relations students. The aim was to collect book donations, some amounts of money and also sponsors. Purposively to contribute in renovating the public library in Labansari village. The village is located in the east of Cikarang, the largest industrial town in ASEAN. But, I can say the life there is not easy.

imageMy colleagues and I visited SDN 01 Labansari to unveil the public library in the village. The village officers said the library built by the Regencial Government of Bekasi. Yet, the construction was not completed well, so that my students made it as the main target of the project. They spread proposals, conducted campaign and personal approaches to collect donations and sponsorship.

Finally, they got sponsors to help renovating the building. It sizes about 5 x 4 square meters, which currently serves various books for children. Not only that, some books for teenagers and adults are also accessible in the library. The library is now becoming one and the only library in the village.

imageIt is fact that the village is surrounded by big corporates. Japanese, Korean, American, and other multinational corporates invest a big  funds in the city. But, the local community is still poor. Thus, we encouraged companies to contribute as partners, sponsors, and CSR alliances. Because good quality of life is their right.
